Advent calendars have become a very common way to count down the days of December as Christmas approaches. But if you have one of those calendars with chocolate inside, did you know you are being *cheated*? It’s true! In most church practices, Advent begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas which in 2020 was November 29th. Now, I’m not saying that you are owed two extra pieces of chocolate, but you are *totally* owed two extra pieces of chocolate.

A very British tradition is the Advent Crown made on Blue Peter, the world’s longest running children’s television programme which first aired in 1958. I’ve never met anyone who actually had enough spare hangers and time to make one at home, but it’s always fun to watch the Blue Peter presenters making it despite (or perhaps because of) the occasional accidental fire.
